Besides becoming an authority on Svami Vivekananda and the Ramakrishna Mission, Williams also wrote about the Wisdom tradition of Hinduism, in a series on mythology (finding that category inappropriate and already judging Hindu Wisdom lacking).
Prof. Huston Smith and Williams were both invited to a number of Ramakrishna Mission conferences as speakers. Huston was interested in making a point, Williams in stopping a picture, it seems.
